Choosing the Right Contractor

Deciding to remodel your home can be a stressful.  You want to get the most for your money and when it's all said and done, you want to love your home 's new look!
When hiring a construction company to do the work, you need to consider several things:
  • Can you trust them?  Are they reliable?
  • What do others say about them? Call the references they provide.
  • Where can you go to see their work?
  • Are you comfortable with them? (After all, they will be in your home day after day until the project is finished)
  • Will they change something if you are not satisfied or you simply just change your mind about how something should look?
  • Will they be there when they say they will be?
  • Is the proposal received from the contractor professional?  Does it itemized the work plan and the costs clearly?
When you get several bids to do work at your home, going with the lowest price may seem the way to go.  But, it isn't always the best decision.
Many contractors don't include everything necessary on their initial bid, but will add things as the job progresses, making their bid seem to be the lowest, but in fact, you may end up paying much more.  So make sure you compare item for item and determine what is actually being provided when looking at the proposals presented.
  • What is the quality of products that they use.
For example, the cost of replacing windows can vary greatly depending upon the quality you choose.  Does the cost vary in the proposal because a particular contractor is using higher quality materials to complete the job.
Remodeling your home enhances its value and enriches your quality of living.  Make it a great experience!
